House of Harvey winter hikeWinter is not very much like winter here in Los Angeles. ¬†Temps may get down to a miserable 50 (note the sarcasm) during the last few months of the year, but they typically rise back up to their normal 60s/70s before you can say Happy Valentine’s Day.

While I do love the constant sun and brightness, I could really go from some snow from time to time.  Until then, me and Mr. Harvey will just have to take in some of the sunny winter hiking and just deal.

Question: where do you go hiking and aren’t you worried about snakes?

I used to take my little guy out until we came across a rattlesnake and now I’m just too paranoid.

I’m trying to find a way around the problem because I know how much he loves it and we really miss taking him.

I am fortunate enough to have MANY hiking trails in and around where I live. This spot is close to my parents in the San Fernando Valley, California. I, too, have seen a snake on the trail, but my pup is such a scaredy cat he would never attempt to go near it, but it is definitely something you always have to look out for. Happy and sage trails to you and your pup!
